Global Finance Conference
Dubai, UAE - March 30 - April 2, 2014
Call for Papers/Proposals

American University of Sharjah

The 21st Global Finance Conference shall be hosted by the American University of Sharjah, March 31-April 2, 2014. JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai is the venue. Professor Jay Ritter, the Cordell Eminent Scholar Chair at University of Florida is the keynote speaker. Professor Narjess Boubakri of AUS shall serve as Program co-Chair and Global Financial Imbalances, Stability and Sustainability is the theme of Conference.

Papers/proposals in these categories are solicited:

1. Competitive Papers: Complete paper submitted by deadline; considered for the Best Paper Awards.
2. Work-in-Progress: Abstract submitted by the deadline; paper is to be completed by Conference date.
3. Proposal for Panel, Workshop, Tutorial.
4. Doctoral Students Papers: One of the top awards is for this category.

Please submit your paper or proposal electronically via the 2014 Global Finance Conference website. The first page shall contain the title, track identification number (see conference topics below) and authors’ name, affiliation, address, e-mail, phone, and fax. The body of the paper shall not have any author identification and must begin with the paper title and abstract. All entries will be refereed through a double-blind review process. Authors of accepted papers may submit a two-page detailed abstract for the 2014 GFC e-Proceedings.

The top six (6) papers presented at the Conference will be awarded on a competitive basis and will be considered for publication in a Special Issue of the Global Finance Journal. One of the awards is dedicated to the doctoral student papers.


Prof. Jay Ritter - 2014 GFC Keynote SpeakerProf. Jay R. Ritter; Joe B. Cordell Eminent Scholar Chair/ Eminent Scholar, University of Florida

Professor Ritter teaches corporate finance at the undergraduate, M.B.A. and Ph.D. levels. He is a leading academic authority on the market for newly issued stock. He has previously served on the faculties of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, the University of Michigan, the University of Illinois and was a visiting professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Prof. William Megginson - 2014 GFC Keynote SpeakerProf. William L. Megginson; Rainbolt Chair in Finance, The University of Oklahoma

Bill Megginson is the Rainbolt Chair in Finance at the University of Oklahoma’s Michael F. Price College of Business (1998). He is also the Saudi Aramco Chair in Finance at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and a frequent visiting professor at the Universite Paris-Dauphine. His research has encompassed the privatization of state owned enterprises and sovereign wealth funds, as well as corporate governance. Prior to entering academia, he worked for five years as a petroleum chemist at the world's largest styrene monomer plant and at the largest independent petroleum refinery in the United States.
